This coin was created to remember Donald Kirk, an amazing man whom passed away on September 12th, 2016. Only 8 months ago, Donald was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma, a cancer of the blood. He was never alone in his fight, supported by his loving family, and friends. Don was a proud board member of The Make a Wave Foundation, and expressed his desire to use his Make a Wave coin to raise awareness to Lymphoma when he passed. Please remember Don, as well as help fulfill his desire to raise awareness of lymphoma by passing this coin on through an act of kindness and also share this Make a Wave coin profile by clicking the share button on this page.

Over 13 years ago I remember painting a bedroom with my father Donald Kirk, a song came on the radio...it was American Soldier by Toby Keith. My father and I stopped what we were doing and just sat there and listened. As Toby sang the lyrics I saw my fathers eyes drift back to a different time, back to his military service. For myself, in those lyrics I found inspiration, and a desire to serve others, and this country. It was a moment my father and I share that I will cherish forever.
Although my father has been gone for almost a year, last night I was able to tell Toby about that moment, and pass him on my fathers Make a Wave coin, which raises awareness for Mantel cell lymphoma. Over about ten beers, I had the opportunity to tell him all about my brother Ryan Kirk, and how he left us the greatest gift you can in death, inspiration. Inspiration to be better, to be kinder, to leave this place better than we found it. I'm honored to welcome our newest Wave Maker and friend, Toby Keith. Read More...

After returning home from school, my neighbor found out that he had been locked out of his families apartment. I saw him trying to figure out a way in, and decided this was a great opportunity to introduce him to what Make a Wave was all about, helping one another out. Two scaled floors and a picked window lock later, I was able to let my new friend back into his apartment. I know my dad would've been proud. Read More...
